OK – I have been thinking about this for a while. What should be the 1st point for the Mission statement. I do believe that one of the biggest issue is processed food. On the whole they are high in fat, sugar and salt as well as a whole raft of other nasties. I therefore made the following the first piont of the mission statement
Eliminated all Highly processed food, reduce as much as possible processed food and eat as much as possible whole foods.
The 2nd point of the mission statement has to do with where to source my food from. I do believe that organic is better then conventional but what about travel distance. Is an Organic tomato that has to come from China tastier then a conventional local tomato (not even taking into account the environmental cost of the travel distance).
Grow as much of my own food. Look for local organic food first followed by locally grown food straight form the source (e.g Farmers Markets). Rather buy in season produce and change your meals then the other way around
The last point is about cooking. I love going out to dinner anything from the local pub to fine dinning but you have no control or knowledge of what is in your food (most of the time).
I have loved good food for as long as I can remember – one of the reasons why I’m now overweight. I have always cooked for flavour with no regard to health or weight issues but I do give in to ‘junk food’ a few times a month. I prefer going to a proper restaurant over Maccas and at home I don’t eat much junk food - just a few chips and a bit of ice-cream.
Speaking of ‘Junk Food’ I do like it but over the years as I have learned more of how its made and the condition’s of the workers and animals I have grown more guilty for eating it. I’m also concerned of what it does to my health. This bring me to my new phase in Life.
Trying to work out what one should eat is becoming harder and harder. Media reports are so confusing – don’t eat avo’s one day then you are told they are the new super food – so I have done some researches of my own. I have to admit that it was mainly focused on the alternative view on food (i.e. Michael Pollan) but it some how seems to make sense to me. However I have not lost any weight or feel better (i do have a better conscience) but it might be due me falling of the wagon after a few weeks of not eating processed food. It is so hard to avoid eating it in Australia so I’m now trying to find a solution that works for me.
What I’m hoping to do is to blog my finding of what works for me and what does not. Also report if – more like when – I fall pray to junk food again and why. My first step is to work on mission statement to focus my mind. I’m hoping by putting it in writing I can stick it better then I have do before. It works for business so why not for me.
One explanation first Germanamese is German and Vietnamese food. I.E. I’m a German trying to cook Vietnamese food so it not authenticated at all but quite tasty.
I made this last night.
Add water, stock, star aniseed, 1/2 the chilly, copped coriander roots, bay leave, pepper corns and tops of spring onion to a medium pot and bring to boil.
Add the rest of the chilly, soy sauce, fish sauce, lemon grass and garlic to the beef. If you want you can add some sesame oil and let it marinate for a bit.
Chop carrots and bok choy finely. Blanche the veggies in the boiling stock and set aside. heat the noodles in the stock and at the same time fry the beef in a wok.
In a blow add all the herbs (roughly chopped), sprouts, thickly sliced cucumber (take out the seeds and cut into half moons), matchsticked capsicums , noodles and blanched veggies. Add some stock and the top with spring onions and beef.
Enjoy
P.S keep the rest of the stock
You can play the old infocom games here.
These take me back to my early days of gaming (showing my age). I actually finished Hitch-hiker to the Galaxy which was awesome and very frustrating. These are defiantly are the hight of text base adventure gaming, it was always a highlight when you open Zzap64! and found that a new infocom game was coming out.
Found this story this morning and it seems very plausible.
Looks like the name for the next WoW expansion. On July 28th Blizzard filed to trademark the phrase ‘Mists of Pandaria’ in reference to an online game.
Also some interesting new about Diablo 3
Here we go. It had to happen. We have to blame something and games are an easy target as the current generation of polititen did not grow up with them.
In a 1500-page manifesto posted online, Behring Breivik said he was a fan of World of Warcraft and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and that he had played the games while preparing his rampage.
WOW is the most benign game out there. OK you have to kill things but game could not be construed to be a violent game at all – it looks and feels like a cartoon and the story could be found in most fairy tales.
He refers to himself as Christian so they better remove the Bible from shops as people could stumble on it while shopping

I don’t have a lot of time to listen to Podcast’s but I make sure I catch these 4 each week. The Instance - the best WOW podcast on the net. You do have to play WOW or there is little point to listen to it.
Film Sack - This is laugh out loud funny and a must even if you not a film buff.
hypothetical help - Again funny as. I love the inter play between Scot and the Turpster.
coverville - A great way to hear songs performed in a new way. Some songs you hate sound great when covered also it awesome to hear your fav’s done in a different way.
As a general recommendation is any podcast from the frogpants studio. Anything that Scott Johnson puts his name to is worth a listen.
